2011 Caxton Theatre

Turning ordinary lives into extraordinary stories…

Commissioned by Lincs Inspire and the Arts Council England, Breakwater Theatre Company is delighted to be staging an evening of two dramatic monologues exclusively at The Caxton Theatre for one night only.

Inspired (very loosely) by Talking Heads, TWENTYSOMETHING offers a boldly modern twist on Alan Bennett’s classic series of bittersweet monologues, replacing his typically middle-aged protagonists with fierce, young, everyday women desperately trying to overcome the struggles of contemporary life, love and loss, often with shattering, shocking and sinister consequences.

Remaining faithful to the naturalism and pathos of Bennett’s writing, the evening promises to be a blistering and intimate double bill, comprising of two unforgettable stories, ‘Fit’ and ‘Summer Holiday’, brand new, never-performed works from local playwrights Andy Evans and Ben Parfrement Parkes, both of whom are no stranger to The Caxton’s stage having previously penned 2014’s Pro Patria Mori: The Story of The Grimsby Chums and 2016’s Dead and Breakfast respectively.

All tickets £5.00. PLEASE NOTE – This production takes place in the Novartis Suite (bar area) and features some adult content.
