This play has been taken from Terry Pratchett's discworld novel of the same title.

Mort has been taken on as Death's apprentice and before long he is given the responsibility for ushering souls into the next world.  However, Mort starts making moral judgements and this has an adverse effect on everything.  It falls on Albert, Death's butler, to come out of retirement as a Wizard and put things right.
