We would like to invite all youth members and friends to audition for this exciting and challenging production on Fri 8th April 10am - 4pm and/or Sat 16th April 10am - 12pm at the Caxton Theatre, Grimsby.  All young people in North East Lincolnshire are welcome to audition for this production.

If you cannot make either of these dates please get in touch and we will arrange an alternative audition time to suit you.  Please feel free to attend both or just one of the audition days.

Parts will be announced on Saturday 16th April at 1pm.

Please be aware that this production has various issues concerning young people.  The young boy in the piece suffers with a form of teurrets syndrome, Alice herself is actually a victim of child abuse.  Although this may seem very serious I can assure you that all issues are dealt with in a very sensitive and clever way by the author, and the book was originally written for a 12+ year old audience.

There will be an extra performance for the local youth services and we may ask some of the cast to be available for an after show chat back with some of the young audience.

Childline or the Samaritans will be present during rehearsals and the performance to give support and guidance to the cast and crew, ensuring that we deal with the issues in an appropriate manner.

We are looking for: young actors who are ready for a challenge and who feel they would approach the roles with a mature and disciplined manner. Ideally most of the actors should be aged 14+ but we will consider younger people if they prove to understand and respect the issues involved.  All young people under the age of 18 must present a signed parental consent form at the beginning of their audition day.

Those who do not get parts or who are not interested in the acting side of the production can have the opportunity to work backstage or be trained to operate lighting and sound.

You can request a copy of the script (first draft) if you would like to read more about the storyline and characters, or the book itself will be available to order through Ottakars.

Please find attached more details and a rehearsal schedule. If you are attending the audition you must present us with a signed parental consent form in advance or on the day at the latest.

Yours faithfully

Emma Nicholson
