Christmas Storytelling! Print E-mail

Artlandish have been working with local children with the Macaulay Area Action Group at St Hughs Church Hall to make lanterns for a parade on 17th December 04. They have created some beautiful lanterns of all shapes and sizes, including pyramid lanterns and even a giant snowman!

They will be joined by a young samba band led by Ian Riggall and the whole procession will parade down Macaulay Street at 6.30pm into the town centre where they will finish up at St James Church.

People are welcome to watch the parade and join them in the Church where everyone will be treated to Christmas stories from members of the Caxton Youth Theatre who have been working with newly formed arts company, 'Fusion'.

The youth members will provide some very atmospheric storytelling, switching from character to character they will perform to the light of the lanterns and tell the story of many famous Christmas names including, Santa, Rudolf and Scrooge! The performance is directed by Emma Nicholson.

A festive market will be taking place in the market place at this time also which adds yet another exciting event to the Christmas Lantern Festival night.

The storytelling took place inside the church at 7.30pm on FRIDAY DECEMBER 17th and will be repeated on SATURDAY 18th DECEMBER at 11am in the church where there will be an exhibition of all the work by the youngsters involved.

This event has been organised by North East Lincolnshire Council's Arts Development Unit with the Community Church Group.
